In crisis times like these it is essential to find alternative job and income opportunities above in those areas where there are a lot of potential opportunities, but the actual ones are effectively scarce: like rural areas.

Multifunctionality in agriculture is surely a critical strategy for existing farms and above all for the new ones for young people and women who may find, in rural economies, job opportunities.

Among the potential possibilities offered by agricultural multifunctionality, also services for children in rural areas may play a relevant role: this is the case of rural nurseries.

With regards to this it has been recently released the following document (in italian) describing the current situation in Italy about this kind of services, some useful ideas about how to start such initiatives, contributes, norms and regulations and some pilot experiences already in progress in Italy.
