Yesterday, maybe in occasion of the Earth Day 2009, Sky Television has programmed the movie "Biutiful Cauntri". This movie describes the situation of the mismanagement of wastes in Campania Region which has been transformed, thanks to the collusions between Mafia, criminal entrepreneurs and politicians, into a giant abusive dump for all Italy.
I don't want to discuss the problem of waste management even if it is always better to remind the situation in Campania: nobody's talking about it anymore: why? Maybe has the waste emergency been solved? I don't think so. In Italy emergencies are as such only in mass-media terms: emergencies appear and disappear, they are turned on and turned off according to precise goals: this has been the case of wild dogs, rapes, romanians, etc.
The most disturbing thing for me while watching this film has been the realization of how much our lives really are worth in political terms in Italy: nothing. Italy has become a "Zero-Resistance" country where just a little is enough to make all of us disposed to do anything: where it is possible to slowly kill by cancer thousand of people in the general indifference and silence.
Just a few coins and "le jeux sont fait"! Lives of entire families are cancelled all at once with a signature, with an exchange of favours, with a transfer of a briefcase...
This has really disturbed and offended me while watching this movie: we, common people, powerless people, exist only to put a cross over the right name for elections (possibly a top model or a beautiful dancer...). After that we return to be "nothing" and, as in a silent and subtle Holocaust, we are pushed on our cattle cars where children are stuffed with junk food, we are convinced to buy no-use stuff, we are cheated with coloured lights and reality shows, our lives are poisoned and we are forced to buy the medicines to cure the deseases we have choosen to suffer...
Thereafter, we disappear in the black smoke of a chimney of a never ending cremator fuelled by the lives of millions deceived people...
As we have never existed.
This is what I have seen in this movie...
