An interesting document has been recently published as the result of the Virtual Discussion “Gender, Migration, Remittances and Development: Towards a Participatory Research Framework” which has involved more than 90 researchers, coming from 25 different countries, dealing with the issues of Gender & Migration.
This document has been published by the Foundation "International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women" (UN-INSTRAW) of the UN.
The paper analyzes, through a competent and detailed approach, the issues of the relations between migration and development, the role of remittances and the feminization of migrations. Women play a relevant role within migration flows playng also a critical role also within the "remittance phenomenon" in sending, receiving and managing of remittances. For this reason, women have a focal role within the dynamics and articulations of the relations between development and migration.
Nonetheless, the feminization of migrations and women's role within the remittances' flows still are poorly studied issues. This paper aims to fill this research gap.
